On waking moments, building energy and movement
How we choose to move into our day upon waking is a golden moment. This moment can change everything. With this simple practice, we can create significant shifts in living consciously with self-responsibility.
PRACTICE
— mind upon waking
1. As you begin to wake, gently steer your mind into a mind/body scan. Notice how you’re feeling in your body and what is going on in your mind.
2. In this moment you can choose to give yourself what you need. A few deep belly breaths for physical anxiety, some mental gratitude for a low mood. Tend to yourself in ways that feel good to you.
Practice before your feet hit the floor or your hands reach for your phone. If this moment isn’t available to you first thing, it can be used at any time.
